Sulaiman Alhumaid, M.D.
Sulaiman Alhumaid, M.D. is a fellowship trained Vitreoretinal surgeon practicing at Retina Macula Specialists of Miami. He specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal vascular occlusions, and retinal detachments. Dr. Alhumaid attended medical school at King Saud University in Saudi Arabia. He went on to complete his Ophthalmology residency and Vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at McGill University Health Center in Montreal, Canada. Dr. Alhumaid completed another fellowship in Vitreoretinal surgery at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the nation’s top eye hospital. While there, he performed research on Nosocomial Acute onset Postoperative Endophthalmitis, and Polymerase Chain reaction in the diagnosis of Toxoplasma gondii Chorioretinitis.
He served during his time at Bascom Palmer as a clinical instructor of Ophthalmology and Vitreoretinal Surgery at the University of Miami, where he taught clinical and surgical ophthalmology to residents. Dr. Alhumaid has several published articles in many medical journals and is a co-author of several book chapters, including updating chapters in Albert & Jakobiec’s Principles and Practice of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists, and American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is fluent in English and Arabic.
Dr. Alhumaid currently resides in Brickell with his wife and son. In his free time, Dr. Alhumaid enjoys camping, soccer, and spending time with his family.
