Gary Shienbaum, M.D.
Dr. Gary Shienbaum is a South Florida native and a Phi Kappa Phi and Cum Laude graduate of the University of Florida. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree Summa Cum Laude from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He performed his medical internship at Albert Einstein Medical Center and his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. He then completed a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Fla.
Dr. Shienbaum is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the Miami Ophthalmological Society, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Shienbaum's clinical interests include advanced treatments for diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, macular hole, macular pucker, retinal vascular disease, retinal detachment, complications of cataract surgery, and ocular infection and inflammation. He has authored numerous scientific peer-reviewed publications on vitreoretinal diseases and has presented his research at both local and national meetings.
Dr. Shienbaum is fluent in Spanish and is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate patient care.
